What a day it was. On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, hundreds of young athletes filled the Lincoln Youth Football Complex for the Carriker Chronicles Football Camp, and Sagewell Orthopaedics was proud to be there as co-title sponsor. Hundreds of kids showed up ready to learn, laugh, and grow, and the energy on the field was hard to beat. If you missed it, here is a look back at everything that made this year's camp so special.
A Full Day of Skills and Encouragement
The camp centered on skills training, with no pads and no hitting, so athletes could focus on fundamentals in a safe, supportive setting. Kids rotated through eight stations throughout the morning, working on technique, footwork, and teamwork with coaches who genuinely care about their growth.
The goal was never just about football. It was about building confidence, learning from great mentors, and understanding what it means to be part of a team. Watching these young athletes push themselves and cheer each other on was a highlight in itself.
Dr. Strasburger On the Field
One of the best parts of the day was seeing Dr. Scott Strasburger out there coaching. He brought his decades of experience, his love for the game, and a whole lot of encouragement to every drill. Dr. Strasburger has long believed in supporting young athletes both on and off the field. Being part of a day like this, connecting with kids and families in the community, is exactly why Sagewell shows up year after year.
Wellness Support From Our Athletic Trainers
Keeping athletes safe and comfortable is a team effort. That is why athletic trainers Mike Livergood, MS, ATC, CSCS, and Casey Scott, MAT, LAT, ATC, CNC, were on site all day providing wellness support. From the Sagewell athletic training tent, our team was ready to help with:
- Injury prevention guidance during activities
- Hydration reminders in the summer heat
- On-the-spot care for bumps, scrapes, and minor aches
- A friendly place for athletes to check in
Having experienced trainers nearby gave athletes, coaches, and parents a little extra peace of mind so everyone could focus on the fun.
The Parent Info Session
At 11:30 AM, parents gathered for a short seminar hosted by Dr. Scott Strasburger and Sagewell Orthopaedics. This was a chance to slow down and talk through the things that matter most when raising active kids. The session focused on:
- Supporting athletic kids as they grow and compete
- Recognizing early signs of injury before they become bigger concerns
- Answering the questions parents brought with them
Knowing what to watch for may help families catch small issues early and support their young athletes with confidence. The conversation was warm, practical, and a great reminder that caring for kids in sports goes well beyond the field.
Celebrating the Athletes: MVP Football Awards & Autograph Signing
Every camp deserves a few standout moments, and the MVP football awards delivered. Select athletes were recognized with Sagewell MVP footballs to celebrate their effort, attitude, and growth throughout the day. These awards were about more than talent. They honored the kids who brought heart, sportsmanship, and a willingness to learn.
Say Cheese at the Step-and-Repeat
No big event is complete without a few great photos. Our step-and-repeat backdrop gave families and athletes the perfect spot to capture memories from the day. Players struck their best poses, families snapped photos together, and plenty of those pictures found their way onto social media. It was a simple, fun way to help everyone remember a wonderful morning in Lincoln.
